Yuin
Station - Homestead - Murchison - Western Australia
These pictures show some of the images at
the Yuin Station Homestead area on the Grenough River approx 200km
inland from the coast.
See a separate page for pictures further from the homestead.
Yuin
Station was settled on 1 Jan 1870 by Thomas Burges and bought
in 1939 by Michael Foulkes-Taylor
The following photos were taken at Yuin Station in July 1999 and on a subsequent visit in June 2001.
Yuin Station is about 100km north east of the township of Morawa. It is a working sheep station run
by the Foulkes-Taylor family in conjunction with Tardie Station
further to the east. In addition to looking at the
scenery and seasonal wild flowers, you can see mustering and shearing at various times of the year.
By prior arrangement with Rosco & Anne Foulkes-Taylors (owners), you can stay on the station, either in the
shearers quarters or as a camper (as we did). There is a
little to see within walking distance of the homestead however a
few day trips into the surrounding area are well recommended. the owners can guide or take
you or extended travels around the station. If Shearing is in progress, the
shearing shed is only a stones throw from the homestead.
The best time to see the wild flowers is August to September each year but many are already out in July.
